Caroline Bridges


Caroline aims to create accessible and relevant work about contemporary issues. Communication is paramount in Caroline's work, and she aims to engage with an audience on many levels. Caroline is currently in post-production for an art gallery video installation entitled DISPOSABLE LOVE for the Solihull Art Gallery, funded by Arts Council England and Solihull Arts Complex.

Caroline has just completed a short thriller entitled ONCE REMOVED which was screened at the Short Film Corner at the 60th Cannes Film Festival in 2007. She created a short experimental entitled RED IN THE WHITE in 2006 (which was screened at the Portobello Film Festival, London and the 1st London Filmmakers' Convention) and a documentary entitled PIECES OF YOU. In 2005 Caroline was Director of Photography for Motionhouse Dance Theatre's PERFECT national tour. She also Directed/Choreographed/Edited DECSURVEILLANCE, a multi screen video art gallery installation funded by the Arts Council West Midlands CAPTURE scheme. She has since re-edited this as a single screen work for festivals in London and Europe.

Caroline directed UPLIFT (2003) shown at the IMAX, London in 2003. BRANDED (2003) incorporates dance with animation and has been shown at the Northern Exposure Festival, London (2003), the 4th Constellation Change Screen Dance Festival (2004) at the Curzon, Soho and the first Dance on Camera Festival in Washington D.C. In 2004 she co-choreographed dance film TUSSLE shot on location in Gibraltar and shown in the Commonwealth Film Festival which toured nationally (2005).

Caroline directed and choreographed dance film WHAT?! and received critical acclaim in the Dancing Times (December 2001 issue). This toured to dance film festivals worldwide. She has directed and choreographed AU LAIT (2002) for South East Dance which screened at the Dance on Screen Festival, London and was runner-up at this festival's Production Award, 2002.

In 2000-1, Caroline was a Jerwood Foundation Trainee for two of BBC's Dance for Camera films, FOUNTAIN (Director: Margaret Williams) and TATTOO (Director: Miranda Pennell). She was production assistant at MJW Productions, working on FREEZE (Director: Lucy Baldwyn) for BBC2's Dancing Across the Water series.
